Wednesday Scouts

The Scout section is for boys and girls aged 11 to 14 years and offers an amazing array of activities designed to teach important life skills and get Scouts social and active!

Scouts, as a section, focuses on allowing young people to develop their confidence and teaches them how to work as part of a team. Scouts learn essential outdoor safety skills as well as participate in a variety of physical and intellectual challenges. The programs are designed to target each young person’s own special interests, encouraging them to enjoy their favourite hobbies using meaningful badges and awards.

Epic bushwalks and camping expeditions, getting out on the water in a kayak, canoe or sailboat or even going up in a plane on a visit to an Air Activity Centre are just some of the adventures Scouts get up to!

Scouts meets from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

The section is supported by the following Adult Leaders:

Michael (Wombat) - Scout Leader

I’ve been with Greenbank Wednesday Night Scouts since March 2018. I came back into the Scouting movement as a Leader, having been a Cub, Scout, Venturer and Rover. Scouts is probably the section I have the fondest memories of, due in part to the amazing leaders I had (some of which I am still in contact with today) and incredible experiences like the Jamboree.

As a Leader I hope to give back some of the experiences I had during my time as a Youth Member. Scouting is about tackling and overcoming challenges and learning skills that can help you all the way through life.

Brad (Barramundi) - Assistant Scout Leader

My name is Barramundi. I have been a Scout Leader at Greenbank since 2009. In that time, I have been a part of many Scouting activities from within our own Troop/Group, within our Region, within other Regions and some Branch activities. These have either been as a Troop Leader or as part of the organising team. I have also been to three Australian Jamborees, two as Jamboree Troop Leader. I love to get involved. I also really enjoy seeing young people have a go and get the most out of life. I too was a Scout once and can remember enjoying the times I had as a Cub, a Scout and a Venturer. Outside of scouting I love to spend time with my family which includes two dogs and a horse. Both my children have been through the scouting movement achieving some great milestones including the Australian Scout Medallion. I have seen so many young people grow and develop through their scouting journey over the years and I am proud and privileged to be their mentors in this journey.

Welcome to scouting in Greenbank. Remember … Get in, have go and get the most out of life.
